A Close Look at The Carlisle – Vales of Humber – 50 ft. Estate Series

 I’m Amrita. My husband Jackson and I are seeking a new home with a space upgrade for ourselves and our twin daughters, Dhara and Hira. I run my own Catering Company, and Jackson is a Psychologist with a practice in Mississauga. We currently live in Georgetown. Our girls will be entering High School in September and are both very active in extracurricular activities and academics. While searching for our new home, our priorities included: space for a home office for meeting with catering clients, a large kitchen, bedrooms with en suites for the twins, an extra room to dually function as a study for the girls and a guest room for the occasional overnight guest, and an area with plenty of schools to choose from nearby.

While searching, we came across the Vales of Humber development, and found it met each of our criteria, as well as offering some great upgrades to personalize our new home. We chose The Carlisle, a 50 ft. Estate, offering 3685-3745 sq. ft. of living space, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and a double car garage.

The Carlisle features a covered porch, and double door entrance that opens onto a tiled foyer with a coffered ceiling. Ahead, a hallway with dual coat closets and entrance to the dining room, flanked by decorative columns. To the right, an open entrance to the living room, featuring a large window and cathedral ceiling (elevation A). The living and dining areas are open concept, and the dining room offers an optional coffer-ed ceiling. Plenty of natural light makes the space warm and inviting.

From the foyer, through the hallway, a transitional area provides access to the kitchen (on the right), a grand staircase open to above (on the left) and a half-wall featuring decorative columns and an archway into the family room (ahead). Behind the staircase, a second smaller transitional area with optional coffered ceiling and small niche (perfect for additional shelving and a coffee centre for the home office) leads to the main floor powder room, and a gorgeous set of French doors on the right, opening onto the den.

The den is easily used as an impressive home office for meeting with my catering clients. It offers an optional detailed ceiling and a second set of French doors (optional) leading to an optional covered porch. The proximity to the powder room, and the option of having a coffee bar just outside the door, immediately sold me on the space.

As an alternative (Elevation A Ground Floor Alternative) we were offered a guest bedroom in lieu of the den/office, complete with en suite. This would have moved the main floor powder room into the sunken laundry’s walk in closet. We chose the den option because it best suits our family’s needs.

The sunken main floor laundry room is accessed via the stairs in the main transitional area. It is on a landing before the stairs continue to the basement, and offers exits to the exterior (grade permitting) as well as to the double car garage. It includes a washer, dryer, and laundry tub, and offers a walk in closet for additional storage. Continuing down the stairs past the laundry room, leads to an unfinished basement with cold cellar and rough-ins for a 4th three piece bath.

Back on the main level, the family room is large, and opens onto the kitchen and breakfast areas. It includes a direct-vent fireplace, flanked by windows overlooking the backyard, and an optional detailed ceiling. Through decorative columns, the tiled breakfast area features garden doors leading to an optional covered porch and dual windows for additional light. The corresponding kitchen offers an island with a double sink, dishwasher and flush breakfast bar, as well as plenty of counter space, fridge, stove and built-in pantry.

On the second floor, a railing bars the landing from the staircase, open to below. The landing is detailed with an optional tray ceiling and a large linen closet to the right. Ahead of the stairs is the master bedroom. To the right, are the second and third bedrooms, and in the rear left corner of the landing is the fourth bedroom. 

The second bedroom will be Dhara’s, and features a walk-in closet, en suite with shower, and cathedral (Elevation A) or arched (Elevation B) ceilings.

The third bedroom, Hira’s, features a large window, walk-in closet, and en suite bath with double sinks and full bathtub shared with the fourth bedroom.

The fourth bedroom will double as a study for the twins and extra space should we have overnight guests. It contains a large closet with double doors, plenty of natural light, and a transitional area with additional storage space that leads to the shared bathroom.

The master bedroom entrance is through double doors off of the landing. It includes a tray ceiling, and optional French doors leading to an optional balcony. An oversized walk-in closet means plenty of space for Jackson’s and my clothing and accessories. The en suite is gorgeous, large, and full of natural light. It features a beautiful freestanding tub with a window overlooking the backyard, a two-person glass shower, dual sinks, a makeup counter, and a wall niche for additional storage/shelving.

The Vales of Humber development is located near many schools, and offers us all of the space and convenience we’ve been searching for. The girls can’t wait to have their own bathrooms, and having a home office with french doors leading to an outdoor space is a dream come true for me! The location of our new home means Jackson’s commute will be a breeze, and we have plenty of room to entertain when our families come to visit. We couldn’t be happier!
