President’s Voice: Made in Mexico!

Every so often, Rob Vitullo, the president of Mosaik Homes, will drop by the blog to talk about upcoming projects, Mosaik news or just things he loves. In the third installment of this series, Rob will be talking about great food just blocks from the upcoming Vales of Glenway community in Newmarket.

I’ve often heard that there is no quality Mexican food in the GTA. Though there’s food trucks and taco stands, it’s hard to find a Mexican spot where you can take a family or a big group. In my experience, you’ll find all of those qualities at Made In Mexico. Located at 196 Main Street Made In Mexico is fast becoming the most popular restaurant in Newmarket’s food scene.

Made in Mexico used to be a hidden gem, but they’ve recently moved to a larger location to make room for new customers and devoted fans alike. They’re family owned and operated and the food is authentic, fresh made and in abundant portions.

Made in Mexico is a great date spot. My wife likes that it’s clean and inviting, and I like the drinks menu. After all, there’s no better way to start a date than with a pair of Bulldogs. That’s a frozen margarita topped with a Corona – enough said!

Other than the drinks, I like pancho villa nachos. Of course, you need to start off with some guacamole and chips. Menu highlights include giant burritos, hearty soups, and a few varieties of tamales, but there are so many things to choose from it’s hard to pick just a few.

Made in Mexico is great for families, too – the staff are patient and if you want to expand your child’s picky eating, Mexican is an agreeable place to start. Try the queso fundido – cheese dip served with warm tortillas, great for little hands. And for dessert, my kids love churros – warm, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, and caramel sauce on the side. It might make them a little wired, but it’s worth it if you get to steal a bite.

Made in Mexico was also recently featured on Food Network Canada’s You Gotta Eat Here, you can watch the video here. Just minutes from Vales of Glenway, Made in Mexico is always worth a repeat visit.
