The GTA has seen quite the fierce winter this year, with few and far between forecasts to look forward to, many of us have found refuge in the confines of our house or condo. Although keeping warm by staying indoors is a great option, we can’t forget that we’re Canadian and embracing winter is the best way to teach our children resilience and patience for spring. Taking place in the historic Mill Pond park, this year’s Richmond Hill Winter Carnival is a jam packed three day event happening February 7th, 8th, and 9th. From children’s midway, pony rides and face painting to rock climbing, skydivers and live music among many other things, this years highlights are too many to list. There will surely be fun for all ages, and don’t forget about all the contests from kids colouring, to photography and chicken wing eating contest, it’s almost certain everyone will find something to do at this Carnival. For those in Kleinburg, why not checkout McMichael’s Winter Carnival happening this Sunday Feb 9th? This carnival is part of their Family Sundays series and will be featuring drop in art workshops, a performance of Circus Terrifico by Motus O Dance Theatre and a snowshoeing hike facilitated by the Toronto Region Conservation Authority. In Vaughan we’ve got the 25th annual WinteterFest happening Sunday February 9th in the Vellor Villiage Community Centre. This fun-filled event will take place from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm and will feature free outdoor stage entertainment, an IceZone, midway zone, video gaming zone, horse drawn wagon rides, lumberjack show, face painting, art, science, and musical workshops.
